Loy Allen has been making her sculptures since 1979. She says “My inspiration comes from the natural world, the hills and plains of Dakota. Stylistically, I am inspired by the art of the Art Nouveau Age. Like the artists of that time, I am interested in a depiction of plant and animal life in a pantheistic spirit. My natural forms are meant to be expressive without being strictly realistic…..”

PISMO Fine Art Glass’ 7th annual Bead Invitational promises to intrigue and excite with an amazing selection of glass beads from around the world. Once again the lower level of PISMO Fine Art Glass in Cherry Creek North will be dedicated to beads, jewelry and sculpture made from beads.

On April 23rd 2011, we told you about Japanese glass artists Kimiake & Shin-ichi Higuchi. Their studio was destroyed by the earthquake. They have now re-built and had a mini exhibition of their glass cabbage leaves in the garden to celebrate the new studio. The radioactive contamination by the Fukushima nuclear plant accident is still serious, “but we decide to stay here and we face reality and do our best in the solution of this big problem.”
We look forward to receiving new work very soon!
